A Year and a Half!
Our little Lincoln started Nursery a couple of weeks ago. The transition has been quite easy, since I am currently serving in the Nursery. He just looks so little in there with all of the other kids, even though the oldest kids in his class are only 6 months older than him. When I first got called to Nursery, I got to spend some extra time with Autumn and now I get to hang out with Lincoln. It has been so nice. Lincoln just started saying prayers with us. He mostly bows his head and peaks up with his eyes to see if we are done yet. He sometimes adds tucking his fists into his neck. Just last night, he started actually saying the prayer too; mumbling on with whoever is talking. It is so cute.
Lincoln got his first haircut at about 17 months. He was so excited to do what he always sees Parker and Daddy doing. He was very calm and didn't even whine, let alone cry.
Lincoln is walking like a pro and even bouncing along into a run to keep up with Parker and Autumn. He still has only 6 teeth; 4 on top and 2 on bottom. He is at the age where he not only wants to have everything that his older brother and sister have, but HAS to have it. He cries or screams when he realizes he is being left out. It makes life a little more difficult, but is fun to realize he is getting older and will soon be playing everything right along with them. He also loves to dance. He starts dancing, bobbing his head, or waving his arms to music as soon as he hears it. If we are watching a show with music, he gets of the couch and dances around until it stops. It is always cute to see a small toddler dancing.
Lincoln is still not saying a lot of words regularly, but he communicates in his own way. He often walks up and slaps me repeatedly on the leg, until he gets my attention and then points at what he wants. The words he says for sure; Mama, Dada, Uh-Oh, Stinky, No, Ball, Basketball(Ba-Ball), Dog... He points to his eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hair, hands, feet, and toes. He does some animal sounds; Duck, Snake, Lion, Cow, Cat, Monkey... He loves to read books. Some of his favorites are "Machines at Work" and "Snuggle Puppy." He loves to find his nose, mouth, eyes, ears and hair, but mostly his nose. He goes back and forth from his nose to your nose.
Lincoln speeds down the stairs on his belly and it is so funny to watch. This is the first time we have lived in a place with stairs, so he has gotten really good at them. He has just started to attempt going up and down on his feet like a big kid.
At 18 months, he is 22.5 lbs (9 % tile) and 32 inches (40% tile). The poor kid had ear infections in both ears at his 18 month check up. The same thing happened at 6 months and he has had at least 2 ear infections in between. The poor boy has generally been uncomfortable at night and I am beginning to think he has had ear infections his whole life. We have some new medication and are going to have his ears checked in a couple of weeks to make sure things are okay.
Lincoln loves his blanky ("Nana") and sunggles right into it whenever you give it to him. He goes to sleep so nicely with it snuggled right in his arms. He is such a snuggly boy and loves to be held. He is a sensitive little guy too. Whenever anyone is crying, he immediately gives them a hug and watches intently to see if they feel better. He has the saddest and cutest little pouting face, when you are not doing what he wants you to do. (Usually because we don't know what he wants.) And when you smile or laugh at his cute pouty face, he gets upset/embarrased and hits you. At which point I usually pretend to cry and then he can't help but give me a hug. I love this little guy!
Lincoln is always a happy boy, (which is why it seems hard to tell when he is uncomfortable sometimes). I love to hear him giggle. When Paul gets home Lincoln runs right into his arms with a "Dada" (or "Nana" which he pretty much calls everything, but not all of the time) and a smile. Sometimes when I am on the computer or reading a book, he crawls right up into my lap and puts his smiling face right in front of mine, nose to nose or forehead to forehead. He wants my attention and it makes me smile and drop whatever I am doing. He loves to give kisses. He makes his lips into a little fish face and sometimes won't stop until he gets you on the lips. We sure love our little Lincoln Boy!
