Spring Soccer

Parker played on his first organized sports team and I got to be the coach.  I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive at first, but when no one else volunteered I decided to do it.  I was in charge of a twenty minute practice before each game and then 'calling' the game, which is just enforcing the basic rules at this age.  It was a little scary at first because I didn't know what I was doing, nor did the kids.  But we all got better as the season progressed.  It was actually fun to get to know all of the kids and watch them get better.  It helped that Parker loved having his Mom as the coach.  Parker loved the idea of being on a soccer team and having a jersey.  He even got to be on the same team as his little neighbor friend, Isaac.  Parker wasn't too aggressive when it came to playing at first.  He would kick the ball if it came to him and nobody else got it first.  It was fun to see him get better and even get a few breakaways to the goal towards the end.  We are so proud of our little soccer player!

Preschool Graduation

Parker graduated from preschool!  Paul was wondering if a graduation was really necessary, especially since he will be going to preschool again next year.  But it was so fun to see Parker in action amongst his classmates.  He looked like he thought he was king of the class; looking around and laughing with all of his friends.  Parker went to preschool with his friend, Jack, from our old ward, but has made many new friends along the way.  He talks about Ethan (below left) almost every school day.  It has been a good learning experience for him and for me (getting used to sending him off to school).  It was a cute, short and fun little "ceremony" and Parker and Autumn got to enjoy some yummy snacks afterward.  At the end of the program, they told the kids they were now ready to go to kindergarten.  Parker was so excited and kept bringing it up.  I finally had to break it to him that he doesn't go to kindergarten next year.  (His birthday falls in the month between where the deadline for kindergarten is and the deadline for this particular preschool.)  He was somewhat heart broken, but I am sure he will be excited next year and won't know the difference between kindergarten and a new preschool.  He will be happy just to be back in school again.  How long does this excited about school phase last?!

 

Happy Easter!

We had a neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt for in our cul-de-sac.  The only problem was that it rained, so we got permission to move it to the church.  There were so many people that it ended up being more like a ward party anyway.  There are a few pictures of what the fun would have been like if it hadn't rained and then the fun at the church.

We colored eggs this year.  The kids had fun, but they were also worn out from a busy day of soccer game, bowling, and Easter egg hunting.  This was the first year we have colored eggs, so now they have had the experience.

The Easter Bunny did visit our house with a few treats and toys.  The kids had fun finding their hidden baskets in the morning.

After church and naps, we had Andrew and Trena, Mark and Stella dn Kim over for Easter dinner and another Easter egg hunt.  It is really nice to have family close to celebrate the holidays.
